The University of Santiago de Compostela has a great historical tradition, its five hundredth anniversary was in 1995. 

It´s Lugo university campus is relatively young, dating back to early 1975. One of its youngest centers is the Faculty of Science, founded in 1991 as a positive transformation of a college. The Center started its activities during 1991-92.

From 2004 the Faculty made a commitment to occupational health and safety, at first with its own Master´s degree in Health and Safety, and subsequently, with the first Master´s in Occupational Health and Safety and Enviromental Health of University System of Galicia. This official master is now well established and over 2010 completed his third year. We hope that this meeting be the appropiate framework for discussing with scientific rigor, to get positions closer and share knowledge on different aspects of relevance in the world of occupational health and safety and environmental health. Surely, all this will benefit society, for which the advances and discoveries in the world of prevention are essential to a healthy working life. 

The City Lugo fouded over 2000 years ago by the Romans is located on the banks of River Miño. The City is a beautiful and harmonious cityscape, in whose monuments highligths the Roman Wall, recognized as a World Heritage. The Lugo campus, very strong and well defined, is on of the most important development centers for the city.
